BILINGUAL SPANISH HOUSING PROGRAM COORDINATOR (FULL-TIME)

HANA Center

Salary Range: $40,000 – $45,000

HANA Center is a Chicago-area community-based organization working to meet the critical needs of Korean, Asian American, and multiethnic immigrant communities and build power toward systemic change. HANA Center has offices in Chicago and Prospect Heights, Illinois.

HANA’s Housing Assistance Services are part of its community capacity building programs. Through these services HANA provides outreach, intake, and application assistance for rental and mortgage payment programs to support community members experiencing financial hardship. HANA also provides housing counseling to low income community members and is certified by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD).

The Housing Program Coordinator is responsible for supporting HANA’s housing services program in coordination with HANA’s HUD-Certified housing counselors. This program provides critical support to community members who are seeking housing assistance, education, and individual counseling services. The Coordinator reports to the Housing Services Team Lead.

HANA seeks an Organizing Director who will lead a team with vision, motivation, and dedication to build community power to bring structural change toward achieving racial, social, and economic justice.

HANA’s Organizing Director provides deep understanding and experience in community leadership, power building, membership, and campaign development and implementation with a focus on empowering directly impacted and vulnerable community members to create systemic changes. The Organizing Director drives HANA’s ambitious program to build a strong base of community leaders to fight for bold progressive policies and practices at local, state, and national levels. The Organizing Director will build and sustain a strong team of community organizers to strengthen HANA’s organizing program.

The Organizing Director is a full-time exempt position that will be split between the Chicago and Prospect Heights offices.

Senior Community Engagement Specialist (FULL-TIME)

Keller Science Action Center at the Field Museum

The Keller Science Action Center at the Field Museum is hiring a Senior Community Engagement Specialist to join our Chicago Region team in working with community members to build a greener Chicago. In this Center, the Senior Community Engagement Specialist works with community partners and landowners to advance community-centered conservation across the Chicago Region. The Senior Community Engagement Specialist implements environmental engagement activities and programs rooted in community assets and nature. This position centers the well-being goals of communities to strengthen partnerships and is responsible for helping to design and build engagement strategies and networks within the Action Center’s core Chicago Region geographies.

Community Learning Coordinator (FULL-TIME, HYBRID)

Chicago Architecture Center

Salary Range: $50,000 – $55,000

The Community Learning Coordinator (CLC) is a member of the Learning & Community Engagement team and plays a crucial role in implementing specialized youth programming for the organization. The CLC will be the lead educator and coordinator for a portfolio of specialized learning programs at the Center, collaborating cross-departmentally to define and implement a programmatic vision aimed at reaching and cultivating new audiences with learning and community engagement at the forefront. This role is a grant-supported position with the possibility of annual renewal. A successful candidate will assist the Learning Team in providing high quality community youth programming, reporting on metrics, with the goal of attracting sustained funding. In collaboration with numerous Center departments (Curatorial, Marketing, Exhibition Design, learning etc.), the CLC will integrate CAC’s strategic goals into education programming, and introduce innovative, inclusive programs to foster new audiences and community connections.

PROGRAM MANAGER – TEACHING & LEARNING (FULL-time)

Illinois Humanities

Salary Range: $65,000 – $72,000

The Program Manager for Teaching & Learning is responsible for supporting middle school and high school educators to develop, participate in, and share public humanities programs and resources throughout the state. The Program Manager leads outreach, curriculum development, and creative collaborations between teachers and other stakeholders for the Teaching & Learning department. These responsibilities include stewarding the annual statewide Gwendolyn Brooks Youth Poetry Awards program. This new position at Illinois Humanities serves as a critical member of the Teaching & Learning department, and reports to the Director of Teaching & Learning.

Theater Associate (part-time)

Kalapriya Center for Indian Performing Arts

Kalapriya is looking for a person to direct and conduct a middle school theatre program at one of their partner schools, from mid-October 2023 till mid-May 2024. The selected individual will need to work with about 20 students between grades 4-8 for 3 hrs/week doing the casting, direction, and production.

The Foundation and Corporate Relations Coordinator manages proposals and reports that support goals and meet funder guidelines and criteria. Core activities include conducting prospect research, submitting proposals, and preparing grant and sponsorship application narratives.

Salary Range: $53,000-$55,000

The Archivist manages CHM’s archival collections, which include manuscripts, photographic and moving images, audio recordings, and architectural records. The Archivist works with Curatorial Affairs staff to identify, review, and present proposed acquisitions; periodically reassess the collection; and ensure the collection reflects an inclusive history of the city.

Program Assistant (Part-time)

National Indo-American Museum

The program assistant interacts with community members and coordinates the logistics for existing programs at Chicago schools. They will assist the Board of Directors to deliver content, onsite set-up and take down, as well as registration, payments and reports at the conclusion of each program.

This position requires the candidate to have a valid Illinois driver’s license and a car. They must be willing to travel to City of Chicago schools. All travel expenses will be reimbursed.

Summary of Responsibilities

* Processes all revenues and expenditures following established museum policies.
* Purchases all necessary supplies and services.
* Administers an Annual Budget as prepared by the Board of Directors.
* Prepares monthly financial and statistical reports for the Board of Directors
* Communicates with American and Ukrainian Media outlets, i.e., newspapers,
radio, television, etc., regarding exhibits and collections; prepares Press releases
* Maintains a database for all members and mailing lists.
* Manages all museum correspondence
* Maintains close contact with the Webmaster.

* Prepares Museum newsletter

Requirements:

Bilingual (English and Ukrainian) in speaking, reading, and writing.
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and other programs

Museum tour guide 

Ukrainian National Museum

The Ukrainian National Museum of Chicago has an opening for a tour guide to work Thursdays from 11:00 am to 4:00 pm. The Museum Tour Guide serves as an ambassador for the museum. This individual must be fluent in English and Ukrainian and know Ukrainian history, culture, and the Ukrainian National Museum and Ukrainian Village history. Additional training can be provided.

Summary of Responsibilities

1. Greet and welcome guests or tour groups upon their arrival at the museum.
2. Possess a thorough knowledge of the museum’s exhibits, which allows them to explain an exhibit or artifacts significance and answer any questions that guests might have
3. Be informed about changes in museum exhibits.

The Field Museum’s Learning Center prepares pre-K-12 students with active learning and hands-on discovery through museum collections and exhibitions. Cyrus Tang Foundation educators develop content on AANHPI cultures, particularly focused on the Cyrus Tang Hall of China exhibit.

The Learning Resources Educator will develop digital and physical learning resources – including lesson plans, field trips, digital interactives and games, and collections-based hands-on kits.

The School Partnerships Educator will develop workshops and resources for students and teacher professional development for educators, within the context of museum school partnerships.

Volunteer for the 2024 Activating Heritage Conference

We are looking for 10-15 volunteers to help us make this year’s Activating Heritage Conference a success! As a volunteer, you’ll have the opportunity to connect with our members and other arts & culture professionals and sit in on some of the sessions. Lunch will also be provided!

Volunteers will need to be available in the morning as conference attendees start arriving and throughout the day between sessions.  Shift times and duration will depend on the role, but will be throughout the day and usually 2-4 hours long per shift. Volunteers will also be able to attend sessions as your schedule allows, but you may need to join late or leave early to be in position for your shifts.

American Writer’s Festival

Volunteer for the 2024 American Writer’s Festival

We are looking for volunteers to help us make this year’s American Writer’s Festival a success! We will need the help of dozens of enthusiastic volunteers to make this event a success, and we are thrilled that have you. Volunteers can expect to hear from us with more information shortly after signup. Information about specific volunteer role assignments will be distributed by mid-April, and volunteers will be asked to attend a virtual volunteer training in early May (dates TBD).

  • Friday, May 17 (Load-In Day) – Load-in will take place at the Harold Washington Library from 8am to 4pm, and we will be looking for setup volunteers to help, in shifts.
  • Saturday, May 18 (Reception Day) – We just need two volunteers to do a variety of tasks throughout the reception from 5pm to 8pm at the American Writers Museum
  • Sunday, May 19 (The Festival) – We will need numerous volunteers to fill a variety of roles (ushers, way-finders, check-in attendants, etc.) throughout the event, in shifts. We will also need several volunteers to assist with setup, in the hours before the doors open to the public.
  • Monday, May 20 (Load-Out Day) – We will be returning to the library the day after the event for load-out from 8am to 4pm, and we will be looking for teardown volunteers to help, in shifts.
